With 76 percent of the vote in Shelton and Stratford, Republicans kept the state House seat with the election of Ben McGorty to the post left vacant by veteran state Rep. Larry Miller, of Stratford, who died May 31. But McGorty prevailed with 1,014 votes to Democrat Arlene Liscinsky's 337 in their home base of Shelton.
